Company's First Widebody Project May Boost Range By 350+
Aero-News learned Monday that Aviation Partners Boeing recently
launched the 767-300ER Blended Winglet program, with FAA
certification anticipated in the fourth quarter of 2008. Three
airlines on three different continents have already placed firm
orders for 68 767-300ER Blended Winglet systems.
Some big news for a small plane... as Ballistic Recovery Systems
announced at Lakeland 2007 the final approval to offer a recovery
parachute on the Czech Aircraft Works Sport Cruiser LSA. The
announcement also marks the implementation of a new process to
test, analyze and make design changes to match BRS systems to
Charles Simonyi, the Hungarian-born software engineer who helped
develop Microsoft Word and Excel, returned safely to earth Saturday
from his $25 million trip to the International Space Station, none
the worse for wear, reported the AP.

Piper Aztec Disappears From Radar Off Fort Lauderdale
A Piper Aztec disappeared from radar during a flight from Fort
Lauderdale to Andros Island in the Bahamas Saturday morning,
apparently crashing into the ocean about 17 miles off the Fort
Lauderdale coast, reported the AP. There were no survivors.

Aero-News learned this weekend that British aerobatic pilot
Paul Bonhomme (01:32.45 minutes) won a decisive victory against
Spaniard Alejandro Maclean (01:36.53) in the second leg of the Red
Bull Air Race World Series, held Saturday over Botafogo Bay in Rio

Source: Lt. Cmdr. Garrett D. Kasper, spokesman
for the US Navy's Blue Angels precision flying team. On Sunday, the
service and the family of Lt. Cmdr. Kevin J. Davis confirmed the
young pilot was flying Blue Angels 6, which crashed during a
performance Saturday at MCAS Beaufort in South Carolina. The cause
of the accident is under investigation.
