A380 Pilots to Train on CAE Sims
CAE's development of the world's
first Airbus A380 full-flight simulator is part of an integrated
training solutions agreement signed with Airbus.
The program calls for CAE to provide the aircraft manufacturer
with a complete range of training devices for the A380, including
two full-flight simulators equipped with the CAE Tropos(TM) visual
system, CAE Simfinity(TM) three-dimensional maintenance/flight
training devices, software licenses for CAE Simfinity(TM) desktop
and laptop trainers as well as briefing/debriefing stations.
"We were seeking to offer the best and most comprehensive
training for our A380 customers. CAE was selected on its ability to
offer a complete, high-quality training solution," said Patrick
Gavin, executive vice-president, customer services, Airbus. "Their
experience in developing prototypes figured prominently in our
decision."
The first full-flight
simulator will be sent to Airbus's Toulouse, France, center early
2005 for final development and will be ready for training at the
end of 2005. The second simulator will also be ready for training
at the end of 2005.
"This agreement is about more than just equipment; it recognizes
CAE's technology leadership in simulation as well as our commitment
to providing integrated training solutions for Airbus's latest
aircraft," said Gary Scott, CAE's group president for civil
simulation and training.
The two simulators, which will be built in Montreal,
are a direct result of extensive research and development that CAE
has invested in 21st century technologies such as CAE Tropos(TM),
CAE Sim XXI(TM) and CAE Simfinity(TM).
