Aircraft Will Service Offshore Oil Interests Off
Kazakhstan
AgustaWestland said Monday that JSC Euro-Asia Air of
Kazakhstan has taken delivery of two AW139 medium twin helicopters
during an official ceremony held at AgustaWestland's Vergiate plant
in Italy. The aircraft were accepted by Mr. Askar Janzharkenov,
President and Mr. Talgat Zholdybayev, First Vice-President of JSC
Euro-Asia Air.
These 15-seat offshore configured AW139s will be used to perform
transport operations in Kazakhstan's section of the Caspian Sea.
The delivery to JSC Euro-Asia Air, a leading operator in
Kazakhstan, marks a further expansion of the AW139 fleet in
Kazakhstan's commercial helicopter market.
Emilio Dalmasso, Senior Vice President Commercial Business Unit,
AgustaWestland said "We are delighted to deliver these two AW139s
to JSC Euro-Asia Air, a leading operator in the region. JSC
Euro-Asia becomes the latest of a large number of offshore
operators worldwide to operate the AW139 for this demanding task,
strengthening the view that the AW139 is the best available
helicopter in its class for offshore transport as well as for other
missions". In addition to future business opportunities in
Kazakhstan, AgustaWestland and the Sovereign Wealth Fund
Samruk-Kazyna are now evaluating the setting up of a joint venture
to build a civil helicopter training and maintenance center.
AgustaWestland says the AW139 is well suited for the offshore
role. It can transport 12 to 15 passengers, and can be converted to
and from various configurations. The AW139 delivers Category A
(Class 1) performance from a helipad (elevated or at ground level)
at maximum take-off weight with one engine inoperative capability.
Energy-absorbing landing gear, fuselage and seats as well as high
main and tail rotor ground clearance provide added safety for the
passengers and maintenance teams while on the ground.
