UAA Announces New Aviation Scholarship

Fund For Initial Flight Training

The University Aviation Association, in conjunction with the Greater Morgantown Community Trust and the Hart Field Coalition, Inc. (WV) has established the Dr. Paul W. De Vore Freedom of Flight Aviation Scholarship. Scholarships under the program will be awarded for initial flight training at airports with Federal Aviation Administration 141 approved flight schools.

The Freedom of Flight Aviation Scholarship was established to honor Dr. De Vore for his contributions to community aviation at the local and national level. His interests have been in promoting aviation education for our youth and providing them with opportunities to enter into dynamic and rewarding careers in aviation.
Initial funding for scholarships was provided by local and national contributions obtained from the Scholarship Challenge Flight conducted by Dr. De Vore. In September 2001, Dr. De Vore completed a solo flight in a single engine aircraft that circumnavigated the contiguous 48 states, landing at 40 airports in 36 states. The purpose of the flight was to promote aviation scholarships.

Criteria and applications for the De Vore Scholarship will be available after July 1, 2005.
