The Business Aviation
Associations that make up the International Business Aviation
Council (IBAC), including the National Business Aviation
Association (NBAA), have announced the introduction of the
industry's Business Aviation Safety Strategy. The Strategy serves
as the industry's blueprint for continuous improvement in business
aviation safety.
Mr. Thomas Rui de Aquino of Brazil, IBAC's Chairman, announced
that: "The Safety Strategy demonstrates the commitment of business
aviation to the International Civil Aviation Organization's (ICAO)
objective of enhancing safety through its Global Safety Plan - this
will serve as our contribution". He went on to point out "that the
business aviation community recognizes the need for continuous
improvement of the industry's excellent safety programs to make the
system even safer".
The Safety Strategy was developed by the industry as a blueprint
for building a program of safety excellence. The Plan contains 38
specific actions, grouped under eight safety themes - the guiding
paths to an even better safety record.
Mr. Ed Bolen, President of the NBAA added "Safety has always
been the number one priority for our Association and our Members.
This Strategy serves as a systematic means of coordinating all of
the many excellent safety activities and it provides the stimulus
to foster creativity in looking for new concepts."
Mr. Donald Spruston, IBAC Director General, advised that "the
Strategy was developed over a number of months by a Committee of
safety specialists from business aviation associations from around
the world, with assistance from the Flight Safety Foundation."
