AFS Donates To St. Louis Metro Airborne Law Enforcement Foundation

$3,000 Check Will Help Support Helo Operations

This week, St. Louis, MO-based Aerospace Filtration Systems, Inc. (AFS) announced a donation of $3,000 to the St. Louis Metro Airborne Law Enforcement Foundation. The Foundation assists the local Metro Air Support Unit in funding its aerial law enforcement helicopter operations throughout St. Louis and St. Charles Counties as well as in St. Louis City.

Earlier this year, AFS sponsored the company's first annual AFS Charity Golf Tournament to benefit the Foundation.

Company officials recently presented a $3,000 donation check to Metro Air Support Unit's Commander, Captain Kurt Frisz. Also in attendance at the presentation were the crew of Metro's Air 3, a MD500E helicopter, as well as AFS team members.

"This effort was an outstanding example of the great industry and law enforcement support relationships we are trying to build," said Captain Frisz. "Dedicated local industry suppliers can make a difference to our mission, and the two IBF (Inlet Barrier Filter) systems AFS previously supplied for our helicopters have saved us money and decreased our response time."

"Our team at AFS believes in supporting local, state and federal first responders," said AFS President Michael Scimone. "We had a very good response to our golf tournament fundraiser, and would like to thank all the participants who helped make this donation possible." Many of AFS' supplier partners are local St. Louis-area companies, but out of state vendors participated also, some from as far away as Northern Idaho. Previously, the company also contributed $10,000 to the cost of painting one of Metro Air Support's frontline patrol aircraft. The unit now has two of its helicopters painted with the classic black and white police paint scheme.

AFS manufactures certified IBF solutions for a variety of AgustaWestland, MD Helicopters and Eurocopter aircraft. IBF systems for the Eurocopter EC130, MD900/902 Explorer and Bell 430 are in development.
