First Entegra-Equipped Symphony 160 Shows At Oshkosh

Symphony Aircraft Showcases First Two-Seat Aircraft With Entegra IFD at AirVenture 2005

Avidyne Corporation is making a justifiably big deal out of the AirVenture 2005 premiere of Symphony Aircraft Industries Symphony SA 160, the first two-seat aircraft equipped with Avidyne’s Entegra integrated flight deck. Symphony Aircraft is featuring the first Entegra-equipped SA 160 at its booth during the show.

The Entegra system for the Symphony 160 aircraft consists of two 10.4-inch diagonal, high-resolution, sunlight-readable displays, including an EXP5000 primary flight display (PFD) with integrated solid-state air data and attitude/heading reference system (ADAHRS) and primary engine instruments. The EX5000 multi-function display (MFD) in the Symphony 160 provides a full-featured moving map and comes standard with the EMax™ Engine Instrumentation system. Options include XM WX weather and Avidyne’s exclusive MultiLink™ datalink graphical weather, and FlightCenter services providing flight tracking and two-way text messaging capabilities. Additional options include an autopilot with integrated Flight Director, autopilot mode annunciators and integrated altitude pre-selector on the EXP5000, and CMax™ Jeppesen JeppView® electronic chart display.

“Our mission is to reinvigorate the 2-place market by offering, among other things, advanced technologies not previously available in this class of aircraft. The Avidyne Entegra system is the centerpiece of the new generation SA 160. Thanks to the hard work and the spirit of partnership between Symphony and Avidyne, we are proudly featuring the new standard in 2-Place aircraft at this show. One look at this exceptional aircraft is all that it will take to convince anyone that the renaissance in general aviation continues.”

“At Oshkosh this year, pilots, flight school directors and flight instructors have a great opportunity to get a close look at the Entegra-equipped Symphony 160,” said Mark Sandeen, Avidyne vice president of sales and marketing. “With Entegra, the Symphony 160 features the de facto standard for integrated flight decks in new training and recreational aircraft.”

The Symphony 160 is a spacious two-seat, single-engine, high-wing aircraft with fixed tricycle landing gear designed for recreational, training and utility operation. It is powered by the proven and reliable Textron Lycoming model O-320-D2A engine with a fixed two-bladed MT composite/wood-core propeller. The modern design and materials used in the Symphony 160 form the basis for exceptional flight characteristics, excellent performance, safe operation and serviceability.

“With its mission of training pilots, the Symphony 160 represents an important part of the broader general aviation market that Avidyne serves with Entegra,” said Avidyne President Dan Schwinn. “The intuitive operation of Entegra enables pilots to learn the system quickly so they can take full advantage of its benefits for situational awareness, performance and safety.”
