Signs Of Tougher Times: Another Aero-Biz Shuts Down

70 Aviation Staffers Out Of Work

Texas-based McKinney Aerospace abruptly shut its doors for good last month, ending a nine-year run under several different owners and putting about 70-people out of work.

It's a rough ending for a company that, just two years ago, reported sales of some $15-million. The company was sold a year later to a couple of locals there in McKinney. Andrew Eros and Randy Haler told employees last month, with the rising price of aviation -- they just couldn't afford to pay employees anymore. But the Dallas Business Journal reports there may be another reason. An Addison, Texas, company recently won a $47-thousand judgement against McKinney Aerospace earlier last month. Global Aircraft Services repairs fuel tanks... and sued after its executives say McKinney refused to pay its bill.

Global won the suit by default, as neither Eros nor Haler showed up when the suit went to court.

McKinney Aerospace, as an Aeros Aviation Company, was a modification and service center providing avionics installation and repair, interior refurbishment and completions, airframe maintenance, and exterior paint management.

Located at Collin County Regional Airport (TKI), McKinney Aerospace specialized in large corporate aircraft including Gulfstreams, Challengers, Global Expresses and Falcons.
