He's Leaving the TSA
The TSA's chief, James
Loy said, "It is with a mixture of sadness and joy that I share
Robert Johnson, Director of the Office of Internal Communications
and Public Information, is leaving the Transportation Security
Administration. Starting Monday (September 8), Robert will report
to his new assignment as the Assistant to the Secretary for Public
Affairs for the U.S. Department of Transportation. Robert came to
us last August having previously served in the Arizona Department
of Transportation, worked with two governors and two members of
Congress and in the private sector. During his tenure with the TSA,
Robert has instrumental in developing a proactive positive media
campaign that included hundreds of events around the country that
helped drive the TSA message into the daily news cycle. I know you
will join me in wishing Robert a fond farewell and much success in
his latest endeavor. He will be greatly missed."
Turmail Gets the Corner Office
Loy continued, "I am pleased to announce that Brian Turmail will
serve as the Acting Director of the Office of Communications and
Public Information. Mr. Turmail has been with the Transportation
Security Administration since April of 2002. He has played key
roles in helping communicate the TSA screener rollout process and
in coordinating numerous national media campaigns, including our
meeting the screener deployment and baggage screening deadlines.
Before joining the TSA, Mr. Turmail worked in communications in
both the not-for-profit and private sectors and taught public
school in the District of Columbia. I know you will all join me in
welcoming Brian to this new and very challenging assignment."
