Eclipse Operator Receives Part 135 Paperless Cockpit Approval

North American Jet Charter Group Moves To iPad EFB

North American Jet Charter Group (NAJ) has recently been approved for a paperless cockpit on Part 135 flights. The iPad will now become an Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) for all NAJ operated Eclipse Jets. This approval gives pilots the option to use Foreflight or Jeppesen en route and approach charts as well as paperless versions of General Operating Manuals and Minimum Equipment Lists — all stored and referenced through the iPad interface.

Already certified for single pilot Part 135 operations, NAJ takes maximum advantage of the advanced technology provided by the Eclipse Twin-Engine Jet. Pilots utilize the Eclipse Integrated Flight Management System for primary display, systems management, and flight management operations. The new Eclipse EFB iPad solution provides for a robust and paperless secondary backup device for flight management and navigation guidance, in addition to saving over 35 pounds of paper per aircraft.

“Full utilization and appreciation of the technology provided by the Eclipse Jet results in improving situational awareness in all aspects of flight, which in turn reduces pilot workload, creates additional layers of safety, and increases efficiency,” states Mason Holland, Eclipse CEO and Chairman. “Couple this FAA approved EFB with our Eclipse iPad Quick Reference Application and you can see that Eclipse continues to lead the industry with the most advanced paperless tools available for pilots.”

Paperless solutions for the Eclipse cockpit have received an overwhelming response by the pilot community. Over 300 Eclipse pilots and operators have activated the Eclipse iPad application. More importantly, over 65% of the entire Eclipse fleet now utilizes the Eclipse QRA iPad application.
