PurePower PW1100G Engines To Be Hung On ILFC Airbus A320neos

Deliveries Expected In 2016

Pratt & Whitney will provide power for up to 100 Airbus A320neo family aircraft ordered by International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC) as part of a contract announced last week. The agreement includes 120 firm PurePower PW1100G engines for 60 aircraft and options for up to 80 engines for the additional 40 aircraft with deliveries scheduled to begin in 2016.

Each ILFC Airbus A320neo family aircraft as part of this agreement will be powered by two PurePower PW1100G engines with benefits including double-digit reductions in fuel burn, environmental emissions, engine noise and operating costs when compared with today's engines.

"We congratulate Pratt & Whitney for this first selection of their new PurePower PW1100G engine for the A320neo," said Airbus Chief Operating Officer, Customers, John Leahy. "We look forward to mutually satisfying our customers with the world's most reliable and eco-efficient single–aisle aircraft family."

Pratt & Whitney has more than 800 PW1000G engines on order, including options. The PurePower engine uses an advanced gear system allowing the engine's fan to operate at a different speed than the low-pressure compressor and turbine. The combination of the gear system and an all-new advanced core delivers double-digit improvements in fuel efficiency and environmental emissions as well as a 50 percent reduction in noise.

ILFC is the international market leader in the leasing and re-marketing of commercial jet aircraft to airlines around the world. The people of ILFC have a strong commitment to aviation and its role in building relationships across the globe that drive innovation, prosperity, and understanding. ILFC owns a portfolio consisting of approximately 950 jet aircraft.
