Jeppesen Mobile FliteDeck VFR Solution Designed For Private Pilot Needs

Full U.S. VFR Coverage Now Available With A $49 Annual Data Subscription

Jeppesen has introduced Mobile FliteDeck VFR for GA pilots in the continental U.S. Jeppesen Mobile FliteDeck VFR is a new iPad-based navigation and planning solution designed specifically to enhance the flying experience for private pilots operating under visual flight rules (VFR) conditions.

Jeppesen Mobile FliteDeck VFR is now available with numerous charting navigation coverage options, including full-U.S. VFR coverage with a $49 annual data subscription.  Previously introduced for European pilots, the new VFR mobile app for iPad builds on Jeppesen's mobile architecture and was designed in close coordination with VFR pilots to enhance specific workflow capabilities.

Jeppesen Mobile FliteDeck VFR includes fully interactive features and functions designed for VFR flying, including true data-driven enroute navigation, route planning capabilities, planning and flying modes and access to NOTAMs and text and graphical weather data. The app's settings also allow for management of planned, actual and past flights, providing simplified access to preferred flight data. "Jeppesen Mobile FliteDeck VFR is a dynamic new solution that enhances the entire VFR flying experience from route planning to taxi and parking," said Tim Huegel, director, Jeppesen Aviation Portfolio Management. "Taking a strong user-centric design approach allowed us to understand the workflow requirements of VFR pilots and we are providing VFR subscription data at an affordable cost to make Mobile FliteDeck VFR widely accessible for the private pilot community."

Jeppesen applied its vast experience in the field of electronic flight bag (EFB) development to study the cockpit workflow of VFR pilots. The effort comprised extensive flight trials and feedback from more than 500 private pilots globally. The resulting Mobile FliteDeck VFR features a simple, intuitive design, which reduces overall pilot workload and increases situational awareness.

Jeppesen Mobile FliteDeck VFR also features airport diagram and area charts in one view, eliminating the need to toggle between charts.  Enhanced symbols are included with the iPad app and filters eliminate clutter on screen, directed per pilot preference. Mobile FliteDeck VFR is backed by the quality of Jeppesen's global flight information, which is presented in a unified standard for worldwide flight data and follows rigid specifications and validation procedures.
