Three Lost After Cargo Planes Collide Over Wisconsin

Second Aircraft Able To Land Safely

Two Shorts 360 cargo aircraft (file photo of type, center) collided inflight Sunday afternoon over Wisconsin, bringing one of them down and forcing the second to make an emergency landing. Sadly, the accident claimed the lives of all three people onboard the aircraft that went down.

The planes were flying for Air Cargo Carrier Inc. out of Milwaukee, according to media reports. The aircraft departed MKE together and the planes were apparently flying in formation at the time of the accident, although it is not yet known why.

One aircraft went down immediately after the collision, in a field near Watertown, WI.

The second aircraft went on to make a rough landing at Dodge County Airport in Juneau, WI, coming to rest off the end of the runway. No one was injured onboard that aircraft, although the plane suffered quite a bit of damage.

"There was debris up and down the entire runway," said Dodge County Sheriff Todd Nehls.

Identities of the three victims have not been released. A dispatcher with Air Cargo Carriers refused to comment on the accident, and the company website appears to be out of operation at this time -- although it is not known if that has anything to do with the accident.
