Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics’ 2-inch Standby Attitude Module — SAM® — makes its first appearance at AEA
The MD302 Standby Attitude Module — SAM® — is the industry’s newest generation of 2-inch standby instruments. SAM provides attitude, altitude, airspeed and slip information to the pilot during normal operation or in the case of primary instrument failure.
SAM delivers an easy-to-fit, compact design with selectable orientation (horizontal and vertical) like no other, ensuring a perfect fit within any panel. The unique two-screen display features high-definition graphics and extra-wide viewing angles.
Entirely self-contained, SAM weighs just 1.6 pounds and fits in less panel space than a standard set of 2-inch mechanical attitude, altitude and airspeed indicators.
SAM will be on display at the Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics booth #423 March 26–28 at the AEA International Convention and Trade Show in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics has continued its expansion in the repair and overhaul of avionics products with the addition of Honeywell Bendix/King Mode S transponders, radar altimeters and HF systems. This includes services for the popular MST 67A, KRA 405B and KHF 950 products.

True Blue Power’s TS835 Series is paving the way for certified lithium-ion products in aviation
True Blue Power’s TS835 Series Emergency Power Supply received a Part 25 STC for installation in LearJet 35/36 models and a Part 27 STC for installation in BK117 and EC145 helicopters. The company amended a Part 23 AML STC to include more than 20 aircraft models, including the Beech King Air and Pilatus PC-12.
The new and amended STCs provide service centers with an easier and more efficient certification path for the installation of True Blue Power’s lithium iron phosphate power supplies. Combined with the product’s advanced design, the STCs add to the unit’s overall lower cost of ownership.
Through the Part 23, 25 and 27 STCs, the TS835 Series is now approved as a direct replacement for the J.E.T. PS-835 and PS-855 lead-acid batteries. The power supply utilizes the same rack, connector, wire harness and OFF/ARM/TEST switch as the PS-835 and PS-855. In most cases, the installation simply requires removing the original battery and inserting the TS835 into the existing 1/4 ATR mounting rack.
Additionally, the TS835 Series received EASA TSO certification in December 2012. True Blue Power now holds FAA, EASA and Transport Canada certifications.
