K-State At Salina's Student Life Center Preps To Open

Home To The Cessna Lounge For Aviation Students

Kansas State University at Salina's Student Life Center will open to aviation students, faculty, and staff in mid-October. The 33,000 square foot facility will house a basketball gymnasium, second-level running track, racquetball courts, cardiovascular area, free weights, aerobic/fitness area, and exercise equipment. It will also be home to Cessna Lounge, a student lounge area complete with big screen tvs, video game consoles, pool tables and ping pong tables. A computer station is located in the SLC lobby.

Recreational Services and Student Life will move their offices into the building at the end of September when K-State will take possession of the building. The following weeks will be spent preparing the building for operation. A ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, Novenber 5th on K-State's Salina campus.

K-State Salina's aviation program provides a well-rounded Big 12 university experience shared by 1,000 students in a high-tech campus environment. Adjacent to a 12,000-foot runway, the university has a fleet of more than 40 learning aircraft and more Master Certified Flight Instructors than any other college or university in the country.

Another 2,000 students are served through advanced learning opportunities. K-State at Salina awards certificates in air traffic control, A&P, airport management, avionics maintenance technology, and unmanned aerial systems, and offers affordable degrees in aircraft maintenance, professional pilot, technology management, and engineering technology.
