Study: Commercial Aircraft Leasing Market Tops $233 Billion

Nearly Seven Thousand Aircraft Under Lease Globally

A new report focusing on the Commercial Aircraft Leasing Market 2011-2021 shows the commercial aircraft leasing market will continue to expand, allowing for growth during 2011 and beyond in the wake of a sluggish global economy and an uncertain economic outlook.

The new study 'The Commercial Aircraft Leasing Market 2011-2021' calculates that leased commercial aircraft will steadily increase their market share of the total active commercial fleet. The study calculates that the commercial aircraft leasing market currently constitutes 6,864 aircraft globally and has a market value of $233 billion in 2011.

The study holds that, as the aviation industry adapts to soaring demand for air travel, a wealth of opportunities for expansion of the commercial aircraft leasing market looks certain. In emerging and mature markets, upgrades and expansion of airports to accommodate soaring demand for air travel will provide new sources of demand from airlines keen to expand their fleets. In Asia Pacific and the Middle East, ambitious construction plans for new international and domestic airports will provide a wealth of new opportunities for commercial aircraft lessors in these new vibrant commercial aviation hubs.
