Jeppesen To Supply Flight Data For InSight

Worldwide Jeppesen Nav Data And Charts To Be Included With New Universal Avionics Integrated Flight Deck

Jeppesen will supply critical navigation and flight data to support the recently announced InSight Integrated Flight Deck from Universal Avionics. InSight is a new primary flight and multifunction display avionics system set to debut second quarter of 2015 for business aviation operators.

As part of the new InSight system, Jeppesen will supply digital terminal chart data with ownship position capabilities, airport moving map data, NavData navigation information, cultural data, and obstacle data to serve global flight operations. The Jeppesen digital terminal charts and airport moving map data will be updated seamlessly through the use of Jeppesen Distribution Manager (JDM). This scalable data management system distributes encrypted operational data and documents efficiently across a Web-based system, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of current navigational and operational information to pilots and other users.

"Introduction of the InSight Integrated Flight Deck unveils our vision to support the future of avionics integration, from both the retrofit and forward-fit avionics perspective," said Dan Reida, Universal Avionics vice president, Sales, Marketing and Support. "Teaming with Jeppesen to provide best in class flight information and data ensures that the InSight system will provide the right information at the right time on a global scale, delivered through a dynamic interface."

The InSight system will allow the pilot to directly interact with the Flight Management System (FMS) and features a Synthetic Vision System (SVS) and Terrain Awareness and Warning Systems (TAWS) to increase situational awareness for pilots. The InSight system also will be accessible using external tablet computing hardware, providing convenient, mobile access to flight data.

"We are pleased to support the InSight system, which continues our long-standing relationship with Universal Avionics to provide leading flight information services for business and commercial aviation operators," said Mike Abbott, director, Jeppesen Navigation & Flight Deck Programs. "The InSight system includes exciting synthetic vision capabilities, combined with our navigation, charting and operational data to deliver a unified avionics display that will increase situational awareness, reduce pilot workload and streamline operations on the ground and in the air."

In addition to the multiple data sources provided by Jeppesen, Universal Avionics terrain data also will be part of the integrated suite of data for the system. Jeppesen also supports existing Universal Avionics systems with digital charts, NavData and obstacle data.
