S-TEC Offers Free Glass Cockpit With Magic 2100 Autopilot

Buy an autopilot, get a glass panel... now, that's something we can get behind. S-TEC, the Mineral Wells, TX-based manufacturer of flight control systems, told Aero-News this week the company is now offering factory installations of its MAGIC 2100 Digital autopilot and single-side EFIS for King Air 90, Cessna Conquest I, Piper Cheyenne I and II aircraft -- and owner/operators purchasing the 2100 Digital autopilot will receive a free glass cockpit, with no installation fees.

"These fleets need a low cost autopilot and EFIS solution and we’re excited about providing it," S-TEC Director of Sales Greg Plantz said. "This offer benefits the owner/operators because the MAGIC 2100 DFCS is a full-function autopilot and glass panel that reduces pilot workload and increases situational awareness."

The MAGIC 2100 combines an Electronic Flight Display System (EFIS) and Electronic Information Display System (EIDS) to provide a functional, digital, electronic instrument panel contained in a set of LCD 4.5-inch by 5.6-inch flat-panels.

According to S-TEC's John Sullivan, the EIDS configuration is a Pilot-side, Primary Flight Display, Navigation Display, (2) ADAHRS and the 2100 Digital Autopilot.

The MAGIC 2100 DFCS is a three axis, fully digital, attitude based Flight Control System that brings jet functionality to the twin turboprop market. The LCD display has an Integrated Altitude Pre-Selector and Indicated Air Speed Hold for excellent flight control in all conditions, enhancing situational awareness.

As was reported in Aero-News, the system was also recently cleared by the FAA for RSVM operations in the Conquest II -- allowing that aircraft to fly above 28,000 ft again.

S-TEC's dealer network will also continue to perform installations. The company is part of the Aerospace Systems division of Meggitt/PLC.
