AirVolga To Launch Bombardier CRJ200 Regional Jet Service In Russia

Used Aircraft Purchased To Modernize AirVolga Fleet

Bombardier Aerospace welcomes AirVolga (Volga AviaExpress) of Volgograd, Russia to the CRJ aircraft family. At a news conference Friday in Volgograd, the airline announced that it is preparing to start service with two previously owned CRJ200 LR regional jets acquired from a third party. AirVolga has stated that the CRJ200 LR aircraft are part of a strategy to modernize its fleet, and that they may acquire additional previously owned Bombardier 50-seat regional jets.

From AirVolga’s hub at Volgograd International Airport, the CRJ200 LR aircraft will initially fly within Russia, and to Armenia, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.

Powered by two General Electric CF34-3B1 turbofan engines, AirVolga’s CRJ200 LR aircraft can cruise at speeds up to Mach 0.81 (534 mph), with a maximum range with 50 passengers of 1,752 miles. The aircraft are certified to fly up to an altitude of 41,000 feet. The CRJ200 aircraft’s excellent operating economics and the benefits of commonality within the CRJ aircraft family provide customers with operational flexibility and cost savings potential.

Launched in March 1989, Bombardier’s CRJ Series family of airliners is now the world’s bestselling regional aircraft program, and has recorded 1,688 firm orders from more than 50 customers in Africa, the Americas, the Asia-Pacific region, Europe and the Middle East. As of April 30, 2009, Bombardier had delivered 1,542 CRJ Series (including 1,021 CRJ100/200/440) aircraft to customers.
