Recently two Embraer 145s experienced tire failure on the same day.A Continental Express regional jet blew a main gear tire on takeoff.And an American Eagle EMB 145 blew a tire on landing, causing the airplane to veer off the runway, coming to a stop about 25 feet off the pavement.
Happily both incidents ended with no injury to passengers and crew, and only minor damage to the aircraft.But both remind us that tire damage is possibility that pilots need to be prepared for.Today CFI Tom Turner talks about aircraft tire damage incidents, what can cause them, and how to deal with a blown tire.
