Spirit Of Innovation Begins Flight Testing Phase

Rolls-Royce’s first all-electric aircraft, the “Spirit of Innovation”, has completed its maiden flight, which took place in the UK for about 15 minutes. The beginning of the flight testing phase includes a collection of performance data on its electrical power and propulsion system. In time, the goal of the aircraft speed is to exceed 300 miles per hour. The current speed record stands at 210 miles per hour. 50% of funding has come from the Aerospace Technology Institute in partnership with the U.K. government’s Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy and Innovate U.K.

Samad Aerospace, based in the UK, has completed the first test flight of its fully electric Starling aircraft successfully. The Starling aircraft will offer human air transportation to remote locations. It can transport either one passenger or 220lbs of payload at a speed of 120 miles per hour and range of 136 miles. The test flight focused on flight control systems and handling quality of the aircraft during the hover. Michael Ashmore Continues Investigation

New information has been unearthed concerning the mystery surrounding Amelia Earhart’s crash site, thanks to analyzing a 1938 photograph. Michael Ashmore, of RoadtoAmelia.org, released this statement describing the photograph in question during the second week of September: “The body of this December 1938 photograph shows possible remains of an impact scar, starting at the beach and running approximately 20-40 yards into the vegetation. Suggesting Amelia's angle of approach during ditching and ultimately leads the way to a debris field of previously unseen wreckage within the photo. The debris is seen as shapes piled up in a heap and being semi camouflaged under a canopy of trees and shrubs.

The New Airline’s First Ever Flight Will Be In The A220

Breeze Airways reveals that it has reached a purchase agreement with Airbus for 20 more of the Airbus A220-300. This brings the total number of the aircraft to 80, which are expected to be delivered by the end of the year. Airbus plans to deliver one aircraft per month to Breeze over the next six-and-a-half years, and the airline plans to begin flying with the new aircraft mid 2022. Breeze plans to provide nonstop service between underserved routes across the U.S. at affordable fares. The airline started its operations in May 2021. This first A220 is the first new aircraft that will be operated by the airline.

Greifswald University Hospital, German air ambulance service DRF Luftrettung and Wingcopter recently partnered to transport blood samples sixteen miles in the Northeast German federal state of Mecklenburg-West Pomerania. The flights were carried out by Greifswald University Medical Center in cooperation with DRF Luftrettung and Wingcopter as part of the MV|LIFE|DRONE Challenge project of the hospital's Department of Anesthesiology. The Wingcopter completed the 16-kilometer route in an average of 18 minutes, nearly twice as fast as ground-based transport.

The General Aviation Manufacturers Association shows their support of the Biden Administration’s steps to expand the development, use and production of sustainable aviation fuels. A Fact Sheet, released by the Biden Administration, shared its planned actions to reinforce the future of sustainable fuels in aviation. The briefing states that goals include producing three billion gallons of sustainable fuel, reducing aviation emissions 20% by 2030, and growing good-paying, union jobs.

As The Tailwheel Touched Down, The Airplane Veered To The Right

On September 8, 2021, about 1130 Pacific daylight time, a Cessna A185F, N185BB, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Arlington, Washington. The flight instructor, pilot rated student and passenger were not injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 instructional.
