NASA continues to work to resolve a problem with the Hubble Space Telescope payload computer that halted on June 13. After performing tests on several of the computer’s memory modules, the results indicate that a different piece of computer hardware may have caused the problem, with the memory errors being only a symptom. The operations team is investigating whether the Standard Interface (STINT) hardware, which bridges communications between the computer’s Central Processing Module (CPM) and other components, or the CPM itself is responsible for the issue. U.S. Customs and Border Protection Air Marine Operations (AMO) El Paso Air Branch helicopter pilots rescued a female migrant suffering from a heat related injury recently at approximately 9:40 a.m. in remote area near Sierra Blanca, Texas. AMO pilots flying in an AS350 light enforcement helicopter from El Paso Air Branch were on patrol when they located a group of 30 non-citizens in remote area of Sierra Blanca approximately 87 miles Southeast of El Paso. Primary Commercial Service Airports Will Share Approximately $6.5 Billion
The FAA will award $8 billion in grants to keep U.S. airport workers employed, construction projects going and help U.S. airports recover from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The funding provides economic relief to eligible commercial service, reliever, and general aviation airports. The money will help keep people safe and employed by reimbursing operational expenses, debt service payments, and costs related to combating the spread of pathogens at the airport. Tests Are Administered Online At No Cost Through The Approved Test Administrators
Sixteen organizations have been selected by the FAA to initially administer the Recreational Unmanned Aircraft Systems Safety Test (TRUST). The test was developed to provide recreational drone flyers with aeronautical safety knowledge and an overview of the rules for operating drones in the National Airspace System. “These organizations are key to making this test widely available and easily accessible to recreational drone pilots,” said FAA Administrator Steve Dickson. “We need pilots of all aircraft, including those who operate recreational drones, to have the training and knowledge needed to operate safely in the nation’s airspace.”
Has Acquired All Assets From Columbia Avionics & Aircraft Service
Blackhawk Aerospace has created Blackhawk Aerospace Technologies after having acquired all assets from Columbia Avionics & Aircraft Services, Inc. based at the Columbia, MO Regional Airport (KCOU). Columbia Avionics has been in business since 1995 working to develop new STCs using avionics packages for Citations and other business jets. Blackhawk plans to expand on Columbia’s success and add a new focus on creating STCs for the turboprop market, which their global network of certified dealers can provide to aircraft owners and operators. Additional capabilities include maintenance, airframe modifications, and avionics installations.
AD 2021-11-22 Continues To Require Revising The Life Limits For Certain Parts
The FAA is superseding Airworthiness Directive (AD) 2016-11-21 for Airbus Helicopters Deutschland GmbH (Airbus Helicopters) Model EC135P1, EC135P2, EC135P2+, EC135T1, EC135T2, and EC135T2+ helicopters. AD 2016-11-21 required revising the life limit of certain parts and removing each part that has reached its life limit. This AD continues to require revising the life limits for certain parts and removing each part that has reached or exceeded its life limit and expands the applicability to include Model EC135P3 and EC135T3 helicopters. AD 2021-10-07 Requires A Revision Of The Existing Maintenance Or Inspection Program
The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain The Boeing Company Model 737-8 and 737-9 (737 MAX) airplanes. This AD was prompted by the determination that additional Certification Maintenance Requirements (CMRs) are necessary. This AD requires a revision of the existing maintenance or inspection program to incorporate three additional CMRs. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products. This AD is effective July 8, 2021.
