The Royal Canadian Air Force’s Directorate of Flight Safety, as the Airworthiness Investigative Authority for the Canadian Armed Forces, has concluded its investigation into an accident involving a CT-114 Tutor aircraft of 431 (Air Demonstration) Squadron on May 17, 2020 in the vicinity of Kamloops, British Columbia that claimed the life of Captain Jenn Casey and injured Captain Richard MacDougall. NASA astronaut Mark Vande Hei and two Russian cosmonauts arrived at the International Space Station Friday, bringing its number of residents to 10 for the coming week. The Soyuz MS-18 spacecraft carrying Vande Hei and cosmonauts Oleg Novitskiy and Pyotr Dubrov of the Russian space agency Roscosmos docked to the station's Rassvet module at 7:05 a.m. EDT. Docking occurred two orbits and about three hours after a 3:42 a.m. launch from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.

Airport Debuts New And Expanded 5,200-Foot Runway

The South Grand Lake Regional Airport (SGLRA) in Ketchum, OK, hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, April 9, in honor of the airport's new and expanded 5,200-foot runway. The $4.58 million project began construction in 2019 and consisted of widening the runway from 60 ft to 75 ft, a new asphalt runway surface, and the installation visual guidance systems and LED runway edge lights. The project, included in the Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission's Five-Year Airport Construction Program, provides better safety to the users of the airport while continuing to improve the economic impact for the greater Grand Lake Area.

AD 2021-07-13 Requires Inspecting Each Buckle Including Its Buckle Handle Vane

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain Pacific Scientific Company rotary buckle assemblies (buckles). This AD requires inspecting each buckle including its buckle handle vane, and depending on the results, removing the buckle from service and installing an airworthy buckle. This AD also prohibits installing the affected buckles. This AD was prompted by several reports of cracked buckle handles. The actions of this AD are intended to address an unsafe condition on these products. This AD is effective May 11, 2021.

AD 2021-07-04 Requires Revising The Existing Aircraft Flight Manual (AFM)

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for all ATR-GIE Avions de Transport Régional Model ATR42 airplanes and Model ATR72 airplanes. This AD was prompted by in-service data, which revealed that the minimum operating airspeeds in severe icing conditions, computed to provide adequate stall margins, do not provide sufficient margins to stall speeds at high bank angle while exiting severe icing conditions.
