Japanese HoverBike Debuts At Fuji Speedway

A $680K Moto/Battery Powered Jet-Ski for the Sky? 

A new face in the Advanced Air Mobility, or AAM-Adjacent market, has appeared in Japan touting their "world's first practical hoverbike" at the Fuji Raceway. The initial demonstration was distinctly Japanese in its appearance, showing the crowded stands what they can expect out of the current state of hoverbike technology without the usual hype and exaggerated, fantastical performance of the final product. The XTurismo Limited Edition model will be sold north of half a million dollars, with only 200 units available. Gabrielle Brown Promoted to Cadet Colonel With Prestigious Award

Gabrielle Brown received the distinction on October 3, joining a club of less than 2,500 throughout the history of the CAP. A member since 2017, Brown is cadet commander of the Georgia Wing's Gwinnett County Composite Squadron, and has participated in three encampments, National Blue Beret, and Region Cadet Leadership School. Earned by less than one-half of 1% of cadets, the General Carl A. Spaatz Award represents the highest achievement a Civil Air Patrol cadet can attain. Created in 1964, it has only been presented to 2,000 cadets in total.

Breeze Airways Selects FlightSafety For Sims

New Airline Orders Full Flight Airbus Simulators, Support

FlightSafety International has been selected by new addition to the American market, Breeze Airways to provide their Airbus A220 and Embraer E190 Full Flight Simulators (FFS) and Flight Training Devices (FTD), accompanied by maintenance of long term operation of the devices and crew training equipment. FlightSafety has been one of the biggest names in commercial aviation training across numerous aircraft makes and models. To date, they have shipped nearly 40 E-jet full flight simulators to customers, and the initial sim to be delivered to Breeze Training Academy in 2022 will be engineered and manufactured in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.

Simaero Attains EASA Certification for B737-800 Sim

Upgraded Flight Model Software, Control Loading

French flight simulator company Simaero has received an EASA certificate for their Boeing B737-800 Full Flight Simulator from French Civil Aviation Authority (DGAC) after a series of improvements. The biggest change is the upgrade of its flight model software to the newest Block 3.0 Boeing model. Its certification has been revised to EASA CS FSTD(A) Issue 2 including UPRT & Icing, from an Initial Issue status. Customer-facing improvements include the upgraded Boeing data pack, the upgrade to CDS BP15 with Honeywell Rehost, upgrade to FMC U13, an upgrade to EGPWS with Honeywell Mark V rehost, and full support for upset, recovery, and icing situational training.

The uncrewed Russian Progress 79 is safely in orbit headed for the International Space Station following launch at 8 p.m. (5 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, Baikonur time) from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. The resupply ship reached preliminary orbit and deployed its solar arrays and navigational antennas as planned for a two-day rendezvous on its way to meet up with the orbiting laboratory and its Expedition 66 crew members.

NTSB Prelim: Robinson Helicopter Company R22 (A1); Piper PA-28-181 (A2)

The Flight Instructor Believed They Might Have Struck Birds...

On October 1, 2021, about 0740 mountain standard time, a Piper PA-28-181 airplane, N2868H, and a Robinson R22 helicopter, N412TL, were involved in a midair collision near Chandler, Arizona. The airplane sustained minor damage and the helicopter was destroyed. The flight instructor and student pilot of N2868H, were not injured. The flight instructor and student pilot of N412TL, were fatally injured. Both aircraft were operated as Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 instructional flights. Both aircraft were in parallel traffic patterns at Chandler Municipal Airport (CHD), and a review of recorded communications revealed that both aircraft were in contact with air traffic control
