Since the first B-2 Spirit arrived at Whiteman AFB in Missouri in July 1996, its stealthiness and massive firepower have been used in missions around the world. During its latest mission April 1, the "Spirit of Florida" and its crew became the first B-2 to surpass 7,000 flight hours.

The company says the AW169 AAS is an advanced twin-engine helicopter with the capability to meet all US Army Armed Aerial Scout (AAS) mission requirements.
The police departments of the cities of Costa Mesa and Newport Beach, CA, have formally dissolved their agreement to jointly provide police helicopter patrols for the two cities. The Airborne Law Enforcement (ABLE) board took the action at its final meeting last Thursday.

Ground testing for the first Pratt & Whitney PurePower PW1100G-JM engine for the Airbus A320neo family of aircraft has been successfully completed at the company's West Palm Beach, FL, test facility. The engine completed over 120 hours of testing, validating overall engine operation and fuel efficiency. The engine will next undergo flight testing on the company's experimental 747 airplane at the Mirabel Aerospace Centre in Quebec, Canada.

Air Lease Corporation has announced a lease agreement with Aerolíneas Argentinas for six new Boeing 737-800 aircraft, each on lease for twelve years. The aircraft are scheduled for delivery between November 2014 and February 2016.
Planet-Hunting Satellite, Space Station Instruments To Be Developed For 2017 Launch
NASA's Astrophysics Explorer Program has selected two missions for launch in 2017: a planet-hunting satellite and an International Space Station instrument to observe X-rays from stars. The Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) and Neutron Star Interior Composition Explorer (NICER) were among four concept studies submitted in September 2012.

BAE Systems has been awarded a $20 million contract to develop an advanced prototype system that detects mines and obstacles in near-shore waters for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. As part of the Coastal Battlefield Reconnaissance and Analysis (COBRA) program, the laser-based airborne system will provide 24-hour capability to ensure our troops’ safe transition from ship to shore.

The Sports Aviation Foundation was created in November of 2011 as the Minden-Tahoe Airport’s segment of the Douglas Economic Vitality Program. We are a 501(c) 3 non-profit Foundation; a very young organization, still evolving at the Airport and in the Community. There are three main components of the Foundation to enhance safety, economic vitality, aviation heritage, and excite our youth in the fields of math and science.
