Global Airline Capacity Grows For 10th Consecutive Month

But Continued Tough Trading Conditions In North America Impacts Aviation Markets

The growth in scheduled flights worldwide continues again in March, albeit at a slower rate than in February, with airlines providing 2% more flights. The trend for larger aircraft is set to continue as capacity increases at a higher rate of 3%. This marks the tenth consecutive month of growth compared to the same period last year, according to the latest statistics from OAG.

Medium-speed taxi tests are underway on Boeing's Phantom Eye high altitude long endurance (HALE) unmanned aerial vehicle. On Friday, AFA asked the National Mediation Board (NMB) to declare that negotiations are at an impasse and requested a proffer of arbitration. This step is required prior to setting a 30-day cooling-off period, the time during which intense negotiations typically take place and lead to an agreement or a strike.

Fort Wayne, IN Surgeon And Wife Fatally Injured, 16-Year-Old Son Survived

The FAA has released a factual report for an accident which occurred on June 24th of last year in which a noted Indiana neurosurgeon and his wife were fatally injured. Their 16-year-old son, who was also aboard the Beech Bonanza when it went down, was critically injured in the accident. The weather was reported to be IFR, but the pilot held a valid instrument certificate and according to his logbook had performed 19 instrument approaches since his last proficiency check June 25, 2010.
