FAA Issues SAIB For Enstrom Helicopters

Fuel Guage Issues May Result In Fuel Exhaustion

The FAA has issues a Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin (SAIB) directed to owners and operators of Enstrom Helicopter Corporation-manufactured (Enstrom) 280 FX helicopters of a false fuel quantity indication with subsequent risk exposure to fuel exhaustion during flight. At this time, the FAA feels this airworthiness concern is not an unsafe condition that would warrant an AD.

In its fourth-best year for deliveries since 1990, Daher-Socata announced Monday that 38 TBM 850s were delivered in 2011, bringing to 260 the total number of its latest very fast turboprop aircraft received by customers since being introduced in 2006. The company's 600th aircraft rolled out of the factory last October.

Helo Pilots Brought Home Safely With Help Of Multiple Aircraft

Helping rescue downed pilots isn't something Airmen aboard an E-3 Sentry do regularly, but that's exactly what happened to one crew from the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing Dec. 30. Two hours into the Sentry crew's planned mission, they received a mayday call, relayed through a KC-135 Stratotanker, from an AH-64 Apache. The Apache pilots' wingmen had crashed in northern Afghanistan. The two pilots were okay, but they were going to need help getting back to base.

Preliminary Agreement Was Announced In September Of Last Year

An order for 25 787 Dreamliners has been finalized between Boeing and Air France-KLM Group, with options. The order was signed in late December 2011 and was recorded on Boeing's Orders & Deliveries website, attributed to an unidentified customer. A preliminary agreement was first announced on September 16, 2011.

Charlotte NIMBYs File Suit Against Airport

Second Group Also Preparing Legal Action

NIMBYs living within a few miles of Charlotte-Douglas International Airport in North Carolina (KCLT) aren't messing around when it comes to protesting the disruptions to their lives caused by the opening of a fourth runway in February of last year. WSOC-TV reports that 48 of them have banded together, retained attorney Tommy Odom, and filed a lawsuit against the airport, seeking compensation for the impact on the values of their homes.

Superbowl XLVI will be played next month in Indianapolis, in Lucas Oil Stadium, and at least three groups say they're planning to hire banner planes to publicize messages to the crowd. There are two obvious problems with that plan. There will be a TFR which, despite invoking security as a premise, is widely seen as an excuse to control advertising. But the other issue is that Lucas Oil Stadium has a dome.
