Finnair Pilots Went On Strike Monday At Midnight

The Allied Pilots Association (APA) issued a statement of support Monday for the 800 pilots of Finnair, represented by the Finnish Airline Pilots’ Association (Suomen Liikennelentäjäliitto, SLL). The Finnair pilots went on strike at one minute past midnight Monday morning.

Horizon Air And AFA Reach Tentative Contract Agreement

Flight Attendants Covered Through 2011

Horizon Air and the Association of Flight Attendants (AFA) have reached a tentative agreement on a proposed two-year contract for the airline's 584 flight attendants. The existing contract became amendable on Nov. 21, 2007.

"With record losses and record layoffs in aviation, some in Congress have advocated re-regulation of the industry based on its staggering losses and cuts in essential air service." Source: Representative John Mica (R-FL).

Abbreviated IFR Flight Plans An authorization by ATC requiring pilots to submit only that information needed for the purpose of ATC. It includes only a small portion of the usual IFR flight plan information. In certain instances, this may be only aircraft identification, location, and pilot request.

What Is A Scramjet?

A story today about Scramjet research sent us off researching scramjets. In a Supersonic Combustion Ramjet, oxygen needed by the engine to combust is taken from the atmosphere passing through the vehicle, instead of from a tank onboard.
