Urge Supporters To Contact President, Representatives In
Congress
Seven members of the House of Representatives attended a public
meeting on Saturday, July 28 during AirVenture 2007 at Oshkosh to
answer questions and discuss the next steps for the Aviation
Reauthorization Bill. Six of the seven Representatives in
attendance were members of the House Aviation Subcommittee.
Tinkerer Displays Modifications At AirVenture 2007
It started out innocently enough. Art Mattson bought a Cherokee
140 in 1991, and he quickly realized there were many airports he
couldn't operate out of.
A Phoenix Air Grumman G-159 (Gulfstream I) being used to shuttle
nine passengers from San Nicolas Island to Point Mugu Naval Air
Station made a successful emergency landing Monday, with its left
main gear stuck in the up position.
A simulated engine-out exercise became very real for two pilots
in a vintage Beechcraft C-45H two weeks ago, according to the
National Transportation Safety Board's preliminary report on the
resulting accident.
Pilots Were Told Runway Conditions 'Wet And Slippery'
A member of a congressional panel in Brazil investigating the
fatal July 17 landing accident of a TAM Airlines A320 says
transcripts of cockpit voice recordings show the pilots were told
the runway was "wet and slippery" -- and that braking equipment on
the aircraft wasn't activated on touchdown.
Board Will Meet With All Parties Interested In Buyout
It appears persistence may soon pay off for AirTran Airways, as
months of dogged pursuit of a merger appear to have finally worn
down the board at Midwest Air Group, owner of Midwest Airlines.
As the saying goes... the first step towards recovery is
admitting you have a problem. That's a lesson Northwest Airlines
has had to take to heart, after two months of cancelled flights,
surly passengers, and constant media attention.

Technologically advanced aircraft (TAA) have fewer accidents
when compared to the overall general aviation (GA) fleet, according
to an updated study published by the AOPA Air Safety Foundation
this week. However, the pilot adovcacy group stresses no amount of
technology can replace a pilot’s vigilance and good
judgment.
NASA announced Tuesday its engineers are having difficulty
pinpointing the source of an air leak detected this weekend in the
cabin of the shuttle Endeavour, which now sits on pad 39-A at

Sikorsky announced late Tuesday night the Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA) has authorized its S-92 helicopter to take off
and land in high crosswind conditions and to carry additional
payload based on available engine power.
Hot Weather, Operational Testing To Commence August 15
Dubai-based Emirates says it is marking its first step in the
gradual build-up towards becoming the world's largest operator of
the A380 super-jumbo starting August 15.
The power that would be produced by a turbine engine at sea level
at standard temperature, if the engine was run at maximum turbine
inlet temperature (TIT).
