Gen. John D.W. Corley, commander, Air Combat Command, sent a
message Nov. 21 to F-15 pilots, weapons systems officers and
maintenance professionals outlining the actions the Air Force has
taken following the Nov. 2 F-15C Eagle mishap that resulted in the
loss of the aircraft.
Cobham plc ('Cobham') tells ANN that has reached an agreement to
purchase S-TEC Corporation from Meggitt plc for a cash
consideration of US$38m on a debt and cash free basis payable on
completion. The purchase is anticipated to complete before the year
end, subject to regulatory approval. S-TEC designs, certifies and
manufactures autopilots for general aviation aircraft, ranging from
small single-engined to light commuter aircraft.
Sonex Aircraft is introducing a new labor-saving Sonex Aircraft
Complete Airframe Kit option: Pre-Assembled Main Wing Spars for
Sonex and Waiex airframes, making Sonex Aircraft easier to build
than ever before. While retaining full compliance with the
FAA’s Experimental Amateur-built “Major Portion”
regulations, these pre-manufactured optional kit components can be
expected to reduce Sonex Aircraft build time by a significant
amount. This upgrade can be added to the purchase of Sonex and
Waiex Complete Airframe Kits for $2,200.
The Antique Airplane Association, along with the Board of
Directors of the Air Power Museum, have announced that the 2008
AAA-APM Invitational Fly-In at Antique Airfield, in Blakesburg,
Iowa, will commemorate the 90th anniversary of the beginning of air
mail service in the Unites States. The dates for the fly-in are
August 27 to Sept. 1, 2008.
Delaware Company Will Provide Almost All Components
The first Lineage 1000 -- Embraer's ultra-large executive jet,
based on the planemaker's E190 commercial airliner -- arrived on
November 16 at PATS Aircraft Completions, a division of DeCrane
Aerospace, located in Georgetown, DE. The aircraft is being
outfitted with a customer-selected interior, designed by Priestman
Goode from the United Kingdom.
DAE University has elected to team with Aeronautical Systems
Engineering (ASE, Inc.) for the provision of innovative,
state-of-the-art pilot training equipment for the DAE Flight
Academy pilot training and education programs. ASE will deliver
training devices for integration into DAEFA’s ab initio
single engine Cirrus aircraft training program followed by pilot
training equipment to meet their multi-engine and future training
Initiated in 1992, the AST Program is a NASA/ US industry/ FAA
partnership for developing high-payoff technologies to enable a
safe, highly productive global air transportation system. This
system will include a new generation of environmentally-compatible,
Long range radar that scans the sky in all directions to detect
enemy aircraft and missiles. Detection and warning occur early
enough to allow fighters to intercept and destroy the threat before
it reaches the target.
